You learned very quickly not to sing when you were bored. You learned to listen for pop music lyrics and shoot or run instead of question it. For whatever reason, and something no one had foreseen about the possible undead apocalypse, when someone turned they started singing whatever song they had last heard. Maybe it was something like how when people get dementia or other memory problems, music supposedly helps them.
